CALCULATING PROJECTOR DISTANCE WITH THE BARCO LENS PROGRAM

The Barco Lens Program allows you to calculate maximum screenheight, width, phosphor area, projector distance and a whole lot more. It is an excellent program that will provide a lot of useful information when you are considering mounting a Barco CRT projector to the ceiling. You can find the Lens program in the download section of my Barco 800 Website.

Select the projector type first. Since the 800 Series has been discontinued, select the closest match, the BD801s

Now enter the screen dimensions you wish to use. Note that aspect ratio is VERY important if you wish to calculate the correct projector/screen height.

Click the text button in the lower left of the screen and the following nice overview of measurements is displayed :)

Click on the CRT button to get an idea of what the phosphor lit area in your projector should look like. Make SURE you have turned contrast way down before looking into the tubes. Otherwise you'll be seeing red, green or blue spots for a long long time. .

The Lens Program has a shitload of other options and settings that you can mess around with. If you have a different projector or other specs apply, you can enter those values there and recalculate the drawing.
